Former Newcastle United and West Brom striker Salomon Rondon has moved to Russia to continue his football career. The Venezuelan international player signed for CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League earlier this week. Several media reports linked Salomon Rondon with a move back to West Brom before his transfer to Russia was confirmed this week. West Brom are in need of goals in the Premier League this season as they try to avoid returning back to the English Championship after one season in the top flight.

West Brom have a lot of work to do if they are to escape relegation from the Premier League this season. Salomon Rondon would have provided them with goals and Premier League experience but the club decided to sign MbayeNiang on loan from Galatasaray in the Turkish top flight. MbayeNiang scored his first goal for the Baggies at the weekend but it was not enough as they played out a 1-1 draw at home to title chasers Manchester United.

Salomon Rondon has signed for CSKA Moscow in Russia after the Baggies failed to make a move for him earlier in this winter transfer window. He was linked with the Baggies as reported earlier before the Premier League transfer window ended at the start of this month. The Russian winter transfer window does not close until February 25. Rondon has signed for CSKA Moscow on loan from Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League. Salomon Rondon wanted to sign for a club on loan as the league in China is currently suspended due to Covid-19 concerns. Salomon Rondon moved to Dalian Yifang in China in a £16.5m deal in the summer of 2019. He signed for Dalian from West Brom. Rondon scored 28 goals for the Baggies in three seasons between 2015 and 2018 before spending the 2018/19 season on loan at Newcastle United.
